SC Regional Advisory Committees
An advisory committee is a group of citizens selected to collectively provide advice to the schools in our Perkins Consortium regarding career and technical education. The members are from outside the field of education, representing labor, management, and the general public. The members are selected because of specialized expertise and knowledge. They serve as advisors without administrative authority.
What is the Purpose of an Advisory Committee?
An effective advisory committee provides ongoing evaluation and consultation on the curriculum and training areas to keep course current with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values identified by industry representatives as being necessary for students to learn and use in order to work effectively in their chosen fields.

Program Advisory Committee Handbook (2010 Edition)
The handbook clearly and thoroughly explains the purpose and structure of a committee and the roles of its members. It can serve as a tool for all committee members and may be especially helpful when introducing new members to your committee.
